If you have just ONE word to describe Umno, what would it be?

CALM. Met a young talk host from a radio station at a media night recently who asked me a question that he'd been asked earlier by a co-host: "If you are limited to just one word to sum up the current situation in Umno, what woud that one word be?"
"Calm", the young man told me before I could even put on my thinking cap, was the word he'd use.
Calm before the storm?
No, calm as in composed.
Look, he said, look at how calm the entire party was in the face of adversary: the split between the president and his deputy, the never-ending attack by the unhappy former PM (Dr M pens "get rid of Najib" opn letter ahead of Umno assembly) and his supporters, including the Opposition, the economic challenges which were about to become even more challenging in 2016, etc.
I told him that, yes, if one were to measure Umno by how the big boss conducts himself, then calm would be an apt word to paint a picture of the party. PM Najib Razak, also the president of Umno, had remained focused and steady throughout the year despite everything that was thrown to him. Najib and his poker face.
POKER. That could be a game to describe Umno. No?
Back to the young man who saw calm in Umno, who was asking me if I'd decided on the one word that would describe Umno.
HOPE, I said.
I'm thinking that if Umno can appeal to more sensible young men and women like my new radio host friend, who is obviously NOT an Umno member, there could be hope for the future of the party yet.

Selamat Bersidang, Umno.

p.s. So, if you have one word to describe Umno today, what would it be? Four letter words like calm and hope are allowed ...

    My 4-letter world be "LOST".

It's not the party of our first 3 PMs any more; it's a money-making machine for the select few at the top, and f*** the ordinary Malays.

My longer word would be "BRIBED".

Condemning Trump and doing as he does:

It looks like some Umno leaders, as well as some of their colleagues in other BN parties, are in serious need of a lesson on how not to expose their hypocrisy.

On one hand, we have leaders from the ruling coalition coming out with guns blazing against US presidential candidate Donald Trump over his remark about barring Muslims from entering the US. On the other hand, we have an Umno event which non-Muslim reporters are not allowed to attend.

    DUHH.

    Your great leader just said:

“This means Umno has been successful in its struggle and the Bumiputera agenda was no longer just at the national level."

    Why?

    Because he signed the TPPA.

So the perjuangan demi bangsa, agama & negara has gone international because you sold our collective backside to the USA????

It’s understandable that Najib might want to try his explanation with kinder crowds first, to sort of gain some confidence before he comes clean with the rest of us. We do hope that is the case.

But it is unreasonable to claim that matters of national interest can be discussed only behind closed doors by the members of the ruling party. These are issues that affect all of us, and possibly even our children.

Are we, the people, supposed to just accept that our ministers are happy with the explanation and get on with our lives, thankful for leaders who are able to handle all the difficult stuff? That is a lot to ask of us.

We Malaysians may be easygoing and tolerant, but there is a limit to how much trust we are willing to put in a government that refuses to tell us anything, with the condescending claim that we would not understand.

Gani was heading a task force comprising the police, MACC and Bank Negara to investigate alleged corruption and money laundering.

Following the unceremonious removal of Gani Patail, former AGC legal officer, Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, was arrested along with former MACC adviser, Tan Sri Rashpal Singh, and held for a day for questioning in connection with leaks of investigation documents.

Jessica's service with the AGC was also terminated prematurely.

Seven other MACC officers were called in for questioning by the police, including Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi and the anti-graft agency's special operations deputy director, Tan Kang Sai.

Two senior MACC officers were threatened with transfer orders but Putrajaya later backed down due to public pressure.

Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz on August 13 revealed that seven officers were also questioned by police over leaks related to the 1MDB probe.

  54. Sorry Dato Rocky. Out of topic.

Today, I still met young people who says Anwar Ibrahim was innocent and they accused the government as evil. I guess those who were too young in 1997, might not know the truth.
Therefore, I would like to do the job that people like Azmi Arshad and those who supported Najib, should do. Tell the truth about Anwar Ibrahim. You cannot be sued for telling the truth, anyway.

    Daim was Finance Minister, 1985~1991.
Anwar Ibrahim was Finance Minister, 1991~1998.

The bugger was Dr.M blue-eyed boy. Due to his pious credentials, Dr.M somewhat, brought him into UMNO 1983, from ABIM, to neutralised PAS religious influence amongst the Malays. It was Dr.M biggest success then. PAS became very weak. Infact, UMNO once captured Kelantan.

Dr.M affectionately groomed Anwar to succeed him. Unfortunately, Anwar was alleged to be an adulterer and a ‘kaki-main pungkoq’ guy. This was exposed by Azmin Ali’s (current MB of Selangor) sister, Ummi Hafilda Ali in a letter to Dr.M, 1997. Dr. M dismissed it outright as slander. The letter then reached Karpal Singh and Mat Sabu.
Both of them, then declared in Parliament, 1997: “Kita mempunyai seorang peliwat sebagai TPM”.
Just imagine the shock to Malaysian then.

In-fact, the nickname ‘Al-Juburi’ was coined by Mat Sabu himself, because Anwar portrayed a pious image.

I guess that was why Anwar became very impatient and tried to topple his boss. His deplorable sexual desire was about to hit the fan. (Please bare in mind that ISA was not yet abolished then) That was when Zahid Hamidi, as Anwar’s man, accused Dr.M of cronyism. The next day, Dr.M came out with a list, who got what from the government. (Contracts & APs). Most of them was Anwar’s cronies, of-course.

After being dismissed from UMNO, the bugger was charge in court, 1998, for abused-of-power as DPM and sodomy I. This event seems to strengthen support for PAS and PKR was borne to safe the liwat-guy.
For abused-of-power, (wrongfully instructed the Police to arrest Ummi Hafilda, frightened her to retract that letter and apologised) he was sentenced to 9 years behind bars.
For sodomy I, he was acquitted for technical reason, though the panel of judges did acknowledged that sodomy act did occurred.

    Moral of the story:-
Those who supported Pakatan Harapan (Hope?)and Mat Sabu’s PAN, please ask Mat Sabu why he accused Anwar a peliwat in Parliament, 1997. Also ask him why he nicknamed Anwar as Al-Juburi since 1997, yet he haven’t apologised to Anwar. That’s the real truth. That Al-Juburi thing was not from UMNO’s people. If there is ‘amanah’ or trust in Mat Sabu, he would surely, not tell lies.
