Malaysiakini says sorry to ex-SC chairman and hubby

Kini says sorry to her
Withdraw, Retract, and Apology, x2. It is rare to catch Malaysiakini saying sorry for what it has published but to get a double apology on the same day over the same story from the hard-hitting independent pro-Opposition news site is almost never! But that's exactly what former Securities Commission chairman Zarinah Anwar and husband Azizan Abdul Rahman got today ... Click Apology to Zarinah and Azizan.

Why the apology does not spell out Zarinah's name in full leaves one wondering, Usually, news organisations pay attention to such details after they have screwed up big time. In any case, it is good to note that news portals are behaving more like mainstream media these days in that they can be convinced to apologize for their /honest mistakes or/and their malice. It's good for the profession.

Now that the Malaysiakini has said sorry for using the Asia Sentinel article, Asia Sentinel should also apologize to Zarinah and Azizan. It's only right.

Malaysian chinese made a CEO FAILED in red dot...

Saw Phaik Hwa (born 1957) was the CEO of the SMRT Corporation from December 2002 to 6 January 2012. Prior to that, she had 19 years of experience at DFS Venture Singapore (Pte) Ltd. She was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

SMRT Saw Phaik Hwa became the president and CEO of SMRT in 2002.[2] Ms Saw's resigned as CEO of SMRT in the midst of public anger over two breakdowns in train services that caused commuters to be stranded. These breakdowns were the worst since the transit system was started in 1987.

A doctor from Malaysia who pleaded guilty in March to insulting the modesty of a 19-year-old undergraduate was put on probation for a period of one year.

The doctor with Changi General Hospital (CGH), Ivan Ngeow Ko Yen had dressed up as a Victoria Junior College (female) student and lifted his skirt to expose his genitals to the victim in August 2010.

The 37-year-old repeated the same to another girl, but was allowed to compound that offence for $5,000 (payment to the victim).

During mitigation, Dr Ngeow’s lawyer claimed that Ngeow has been secretly ‘cross-dressing’ since he was 9-years-old.

Dr Ngeow could have been jailed for up to one year and fined.

Meanwhile, despite the gravity of his offence(s), Dr Ngeow remains gainfully employed by CGH as a Senior Resident Physician in Geriatric Medicine, whose job scope may include inter alia, interacting with young female nurses and medical students.

Commenting, a spokesman for CGH said that Dr Ngeow remains “very much part of its team” and efforts are being made to help Dr Ngeow “get back to his feet… he remained under the close supervision of his head of department.”

TR Emeritus learnt that Dr Ngeow is currently seeking psychiatric help

9 May) – Singaporeans couldn’t believe their ears.

“I’m sorry,” said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong just days before the election a year ago this week that dealt the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) its worst setback in the five decades since the island city-state became independent.

“If we didn’t get it right, I’m sorry,” Lee said. “But we will try better the next time.”

At the rate they are going, Mkini should have one regular column called "Retraction and Apology". Perhaps alongside Home/News/Letter etc.

With the numbers of apology the are asking, MalaysiaKini should be labelled THE MOST SORRY News portal in the world.

    Ihaverighttoo

Its good to appologist, and its much more noble to fogive and forget, but the damage is done and its no justice to the victim. It would be more meaningful and civil if the writer had done his job more professionally, and thats what a noble profisionlism and journalism is all about. I hope malaysia kini can respect this prinsciple in all their future article, and its should not be influence by any other factor be it political, racial or religion. In fact the islam is very strict an clear on this, fitnah is more despicable that causing death.
