Abdullah Badawi's popularity has dipped to its lowest since becoming Prime Minister in 2003, according to a Merdeka Centre quarterly survey.
Once popularly known as Mr Nice Guy and Mr Clean, Abdullah's popular ratings slumped to 28 per cent from a score of 68 just before the General Elections in March.
His economic policies, especially the 41-63% fuel price increases, were blamed for his new-found unpopularity.
The ratings sure won't help as Abdullah leads the BN to the Mother of By-Elections within two months in Permatang Pauh, the stage for Anwar Ibrahim's comeback bid to Parliament.
I'm not clear if the sodomy charge against Anwar is also a reason for Abdullah's unpopularity.
It's interesting to note, though, that the same survey found that 55% of the respondents DID NOT believe Anwar committed sodomy.
The rest of the respondents were mostly unsure, but 11% were convinced that Anwar did it.
