FOR UMNO, SOME HOPE YET?

Mukhriz Mahathir. This soft-spoken man, the youngest son of the previous PM, has always lived in the political shadow of his father. That shadow is still as long as ever but Mukhriz is finally emerging out of it and, at the just-concluded Umno general assembly, proves to be a personality to be reckoned with. Just saying he was "a little disappointed" here with Dollah Badawi's address on Wednesday was enough, it seems, to rattle an entire army of keris-waving Umno leaders who now want his head to roll! Umno Youth leader Hishammuddin Hussein was terrified and said he would have to reconsider Mukhriz's position in the Umno Youth executive council line-up if he made any more offending remarks. Such fear!

What did the PM say? Well, he said he was happy to be criticized ...
Abdullah said that he would get very worried if people just showered praises. "But everybody (at the assembly) has spoken very frankly on what they feel about certain things. And I think that's healthy, that's good."
but he ain't happy at all to all when it's Mukhriz who's criticizing him ...
"Well, he has said something which I thought was not right at all," was Abdullah's response when asked about the matter, adding that it was up to Umno Youth to tackle the issue.
[Mind you, the PM's flip-flop about being criticized came from the same article here! Also, check out Cuit-Sikit's take on why the PM was wrong to say that Mukhriz had broken the party law by criticizing him here and Lily's review of the year's scariest movie here].

Mengapa saya berkata begitu?

    Betul. Betul. Tepat tu.
    Sokongan dari saya.
Anda amat kritis, ahli Umno 1982.

Isi cerita sama. Point by point.

Petis & Otak Udang sama sahaja. Sebutan sahaja yang berbeza. Untuk memberi sedap rasa Laksa Penang.

    Dear Bro,
Sungguh hambar ...
Sungguh rasa malu bila seorang perwakilan mengatakan ugama pun lama etc untuk menegakkan benang basah.
As much as I adore TDM and I believe in him 100% , he is partly to be blamed for all the problems that we are facing now.
He has made the PM and Presiden UMNO positions so powerful that nothing normal rakyat can do.
Perhaps that is the reason he is trying hard to rectify his mistakes. Let us hope and pray that it is not too late...
May Allah bless TDM with long life and good health.

Hats off to you, Datuk Mukhriz.

You are indeed yr father’s son.
He should be proud off you. So do we - here in this blog.

You dare offer your honest view which we agree...totally agree!

Unfortunately the Umno of today does not welcome dissenting views.

So those monkeys are gunning you down - with the blessing & under the instigation of that Ox-fart graduate Khairy - for simply saying the truth.

But please don’t step down from the youth exco post (a post which you legitimately won) unlike that arrogant @%$@# who parachuted out of nowhere to secure the No 2 Youth post uncontested by virtue of the fact that he is the SIL of the “jangan diuji saya” Party President.

This is Umno of today with its culture of membodek.

And you, Dato, are our Hope.

I have always suspected that there is more to Mukhriz than he was allowed to show when Mahathir was prime minister. And I think we are going to see more of this young man. Far more intelligent than hisham and not as proud as KJ, Mukhris star should start shining now that he is openly defending his dad. And shine bright it will! This young man has taken himself out to the clutches of greedy soul by fighting back on Behalf of hid dad.

Persidangan UMNO kali ni betul betul buang masa. Amenda yang diperjuangkan pun tak tau lah. Yang jelas, persidangan kali ni menampakkan sifat Melayu yang suka adu domba, mengata orang, find faults & bukan find solution, amalan pancung memancung jadi agenda besar, sebiji lagak orang kurang tamadun.

Bila lah politikus melayu berani nak bukak dada berjuang & berkarisma sebagai pemimpin. Kalau setakat angguk angguk, geleng geleng aje taunya, lebih baik jadik tukang agah rimau kat Zoo Negara.

Utk Saudara Mukhriz, kalau kebenaran berada dalam kata kata saudara, usahlah gentar, lantak pi lah depa yang suka menghukum tanpa berkiblatkan fakta, biarlah si kaki kipas & kaki ampu hidup dalam dunia fantasi depa. Lambat laun depa tu busuk dengan sendirinya !

Nak jadi pemimpin, kalau yang jantan, kena betul betul jantan. Baru ngetop !!

Kalau tak mampu jadik jantan dalam politik, lebih baiklah jadik pemimpin kelab dangdut aje, lembek pun lembeklah, asal gelek boleh pegi sampai 360 degree, jangan sampai jadik macam lilin cair udah le !!! Suwei sepanjang hayat jadik jantan braderrrrrrrr ....

ABB was just being himnself whenhe did the flip flop on criticism against himself. That's ABB for the nation and UMNO. So be proud of your flip flop leader. we deser ve what we get unless we all stand up and make it a concerted effort to stop him from flip flopping or get rid of him.

Tun cannot do it alone. We need to help him in what ever little way we could like contributing our thoughts to the blogs like "rockybru" and others so that others will realise what a useless leader he is.

Datuk Mukhriz, well done - you have done a brilliant job and you have spoken for the 20 million Malaysians. I am sure that Tun is proud of you. n Please don't be cowed by Hisham, KJ, Kalimullah and etc. No body cares for them anyway.

Rocky, how is Tun getting on? hope all is well with Tun.

Mukhriz, congratulations you have now broken away from your great father's shadow, you have now come of age. We salute you, we always knew that you have the strength of character and the courage necessary to one day god willing lead this great nation of ours. And we the majority who did not attend the UMNO AGM, wholeheartedly agree with you that the freedom loving and u-turning PM's speech has nothing new to offer, nothing inspiring at all it was a dissapointing delivery.

Mukhriz be strong when you are called by the crazy kris wielding UMNO youth head and his gang of ampu bodek exco lackeys. We are behind you 110%.Explain to them exactly what you meant about that freedom loving PM 's speech, I doubt anything will get through their thick ampu bodek skull, but they must at least give you a chance to speak not cower you into submission with their stupid and ridiculus kris wielding antics. REMEMBER that Kris Syam and KJ are NOT elected by the UMNO Youth delegates but you my friend garnered the HIGHEST number of votes in the last UMNO Youth election.

So fight the good fight, Mukhriz for ALLAH is the ultimatev judge on who is right and ikhlas.

The Rakyats have been waiting for a leader to step forward whom we can rally behind to bring down this greedy not up-to-the-mark yet arrogant administration. The few names currently considered ... Najib, Tg Razaleigh, Shahrir, Anwar ... have been found wanting one way of another.

Mukhriz may be the one we're looking for. By overreacting to his remark and trying to gun him down, the bleeping 'tards may have actually pointed him out to us. Yeah!

    Anon 11.16 am,

You're right :) But what was worse I thought during the so-called UMNO debate (if you want to call it a debate) is this one Kedah fella. I can't remember his name but during his 15-30 minutes of fame, he gave an example of how the Prophet was treated badly up to a point where this person threw "air najis" or something to the Prophet and yet the Prophet did not retaliate. Then suddenly the attack stopped and the Prophet then asked where was the person. The Prophet was then told that the person was sick and the Prophet then visited the person. This Kedahan debater then said words to the effect that this is similar to what Pak Lah suffered. That Pak Lah who was attacked by TDM then visited TDM when he was sick even though TDM attacked him.

I am quite surprised that not many realized that but this to me is the best "bodeking" of the whole UMNO meeting. Comparing TDM being sicked and Pak Lah visiting him to what the Prophet did. Wow! I think even Pak Lah himself is embarrassed but leave it to the UMNO delegates to bodek to the fullest. The example by the Kedahan fella is not as near as what happened to the Prophet. But trust him to twist the facts to suit his bodeking agenda.

My wife and I couldn't believe what we were hearing on the TV. For his troubles, that Kedahan fella should be given some award :)

saudara rocky, i'm with you on bitching about NST, although your reasons may be more personal.

the paper's gone from shit to soggy shit. but the thing is, the paper's been crap for quite a while and not just since Kali's team took over. you're an NST man, you should know when your sales started to fall.

earth to rocky ... it was the same time Harakah's readership shot through the roof because lots of Malaysians naik menyampah baca NST and other mainstream papers yang stok mengampu the power of the day exactly the way the papers today mengampu Pak Lah's administration.

yes ... it was the FRU days of the late 1990s when our beloved hero Mahathir was still in power.

    as for mukhriz:

it gives me the chills that people here are equating him to his father after making that comment about Pak Lah's speech.

first of all, i know him personally and think he has a great personality/character. i pray to God the Almighty should be move forward in politics, he doesn't carry his father's draconian genes.

he spoke a simple fact about Pak Lah's speech, but one shouldn't go so far as to crown him a hero. neither to attribute his action as result of him being Mahathir's son.

Mahathir and his people would not have had it if someone did that to him back then when he was in power. i know this, i'm a longtime UMNO member.

Rafidah's, Hisham's, Pemuda Exco et al's reaction is typical of UMNO. these guys would have reacted the same if someone had said the same thing about Mahathir's speech when he was presiden parti.

so all these guacayasamalu nonsense we're reading from anti-currentestablishment commenters are quite shallow, if you step back and think about it a bit (usually when you step back and think about things a bit you become less of a sucker).

apa-apa pun kita perlu sedar and terima kenyataan politik UMNO. most of it is just hot air.

my daughter who is reading Malay studies in one of our local unis made a remarkable observation yesterday:

ayah, the president's speech for the longest time has been a matter of semantics. from mahathir to pak lah, the message is basically Melayu masih belum mencapai cita-citanya. in between you will find suggestions for remedy, which ultimately will cost a lot of money. money, a portion of which usually ends up with cronies.

this theme will persist for as long as UMNO exist because UMNO relies on a perjuangan yang belum selesai in order to survive. it's its whole purpose. mahathir's speech was over the years as typical as pak lah's over the last 3 years.

... if you step back a little.

..but perjuangan on who, what and why?

if it's on themselves, why bash the others?

if it's on their own mindset, why bash the others?

if it's on their having being colonized for four plus centuries, why bash the others?

Perhaps your daughter's malay studies lecturer will be able to answer those questions.

Taking the easy roads by rentier policies followed by zero-sum gaming followed by bashing innocents followed by denials followed by unjust applications of policies may even help that lecturer provide your daughter with the real answers.

They say they're venting the anger, hyperventilating because the others have tresspassed their rights.

Only one tresspass was given: the interfaith council.

What other tresspasses were there that they would risk international calumny for being so fanatical about their local supremacy?

Interfaith council was on interfaith discourse about potential interdicts when different religions meet on the same subject.

Discourse leading to enlightenment by sharing leading to solution, perhaps from mutual adjustments.

The NEP targets? the Asli findings were based on its methodology. Just as the EPU's on their own. Or the UM conclusions on its own.

Reaction on Khairy Jamaluddin's statement and Hishammudin Hussein Onn's keris silat?

One took a deliberate slight on the others, the other reminds everyone what it was that amok has done that it can do again.

And they say Bangsa Malaysia the final target for national unity, the reason for continuation of the NEP sans cutoff date, is the ultimate destination.

How? by bashing? by denying? by medicine-man forked-tongue talk? by labelling those who speak up as 'government-bashers', 'anti-establishment', anti-muslims, perhaps?

What will be the content of the final lecture in your daughter's last year of Malay Studies?

The others must always be treated as pendatang even if the official statement says otherwise?

Let loose the dogs of war, let them set fires, then on the last day, let the white knight ride in as the fireman to douse them with a few words of comfort - that umno is for ALL?

Will a photocopy of that final speech be made and reused before the next general elections?

So that simple-minds and cheery hearts will again be coaxed to put their stamp of approval against the great dacing?

    Or, perhaps, that keris-to-be-bathed-in-blood?

Are the malays so takboleh that they must play a dangerous sandiwara of hyperventilating against others born and bred in the same land, so that they can remind their kind that without such irresponsible actions, their race will go into the twilight?

Are the malays so frightened of losing the fabric of their communal faith without state intervention founded on dogmas promulgated by ulamaks of different mien and abilities?
