Awakening KL launch postponed "so as not to promote further misunderstandings"

With updates
"Given the politicisation of the (book) in media reports and in an effort not to promote further misunderstandings, the official launch in Kuala Lumpur will be postponed ... We call on the media and the blogging community to act responsibly, to read the book before making assessments and to avoid erroneous speculation." - Bridget Welsh, editor of Abdullah Badawi's book, Awakening

Bridget Welsh's attempt to blame the Malaysia media and bloggers for politicizing Abdullah Badawi's book foolishly-titled Awakening is feeble and her call for us to "act responsibly" a tad rich. I'm being forgiving here (in the spirit of the season, you see).

Instead of putting the blame on others, Welsh should have done her homework, engaged the media/bloggers, and avoid politicizing her own work. Being a Singapore-based "outsider" is not an excuse; unless she is a very slow learner, Welsh should be an "expert" on local affairs by now, having been a familiar fixture here in Malaysia for several years. I remember being on the same panel with her at the Chinese Assembly Hall in KL in conjunction with the launch of another book in 2009 (read here), which means that four years ago she was already considered an expert on Malaysian politics.

And surely Welsh knows that getting Nurul Izzah binti Anwar Ibrahim to launch the book* is an act of politicizing the book with the aim of creating all kinds of "nasty" speculation. From where I see it, Welsh had it all planned, so don't take us all for fools lah.

* Welsh's statement to postpone the Aug 16 Malaysian launch of the book by Abdullah and Tun Musa Hitam h e r e We have to assume that the Aug 30 launch of the book in Singapore by the daughter of Malaysia's Opposition leader will go on as scheduled so as  to promote further misunderstandings ...

Updated: Awakening ditunda, macam2 penafian ... Boleh percaya ke?

To launch Pak Lah's book on eve of Merdeka as well as to give media review copies (if that is what it was) on eve of Raya smacks of....a whole lot of adjectives can be added in the blank!!

She deliberately timed it knowing the significance of the 2 dates for Malaysia and Malaysians!!

Warning against political expedience to intensify leftist liberalism a.k.a. Anwaritas in Malaysia:

"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."
    (Proverbs 6:16-19, King James Version).

    Pasquale,
you don't want to F*** that white women. She frightens the shit out of a lot of men. But name calling aside, she is so obviously pro-Pakatan that whatever she writes about Malaysian politics will be seen in a coloured light aka BIASED and ONE-SIDED.

She is close to the likes of Lim Kit Siang and son, Anwar Ibrahim and the Erdogans in PAS. Have you wondered why she doesn't her connection and expertise on them to write about DAP or PAS or PKR?

why does she keep harping on personalities she has no direct connection with? That is what makes people suspicious of her motives and the persistent rumours that she is a CIA operative.

Because of her shallow contacts with Umno etc, her book on Pak Lah is shallow and mediocre. Not worth all the publicity she is getting.

    KENYATAAN MEDIA
    4 Julai 2013

    Rocky,

In fact Briget is being touted as the uber political expert on Malaysian politics by the alternative media, in case you didn't notice. Granted all one has to do is to run down the BN govt to be acknowledged as political expert by the likes of Mkini, TMI,etc but she does claim so as well. Her (extremely one-sided) analyses Malaysian politics can be found in foreign media and blogs. As such she cannot be ignorant of the issues surrounding the book, especially when you invite the Opposition Leader's daughter to launch the book at Singapore of all places. I find it ridiculous that she is asking people to stop politicising the issue when the issue itself is about politician and politics. How stupid can she get ?? Bridget is not just pro-PR but practically their mouthpiece.

BTW I am in Singapore over the last few weeks including the Raya holidays for some work. You might be interested to know that TNP blamed Malaysia for Messi's injury. They claimed the pitch at Bkt Jalil caused the injury and forced the organizers to shift venue. In fact from what I know Messi was injured even before coming to Malaysia (ie in Thailand).

I note that you haven't questioned Bridget Welsh's and James Chin's academic credentials.

    Now, why is that?

Is it because their academic degrees are from reputable universities and not from run-of-the-mill buy-your-own degree institutions?

And the track record of their employer has sufficient gravitas, has it not?

Are you claiming that their employer is getting involved in Malaysian domestic politics?

It would be good if you made such claims upfront, so that we know that you aren't espousing any particular agenda.

The current controversy covering Pah Lah' s book, "Awakening blah, blah edited by James Chin and Bridget Welsh, the two promoters based in Australia and Singapore respectively". Both are notable Advisers to the Pak Lah's administration on the advice of the then King Maker 4th floor boys from the early years of 2000. James and Bridget are highly paid analysts and were responsible to the King Maker and not cronies as outsiders perceived.

In my own analysts Pak Lah is just a pawn in the skim of things to erode the current political power and administration of PM Najib with substantive in road through fixers who are key players behind Rosmah, both political and cooperate outfit and entities on the adviser of the King Makers through the associates of both James and Bridget. For more detailed bio-datas just google their names and get access to all the personal information in pursue of your own analysts and political degression etc.

The sudden reveal of the book that had implicated Pak Lah running up to the UMNO election is to create a wedge between Najib and Myuhiddin in the power changer which the opposition is trying to destroy UMNO by using the " the knife behind the cloak" approach or as in Chinese war deadly weapon, "borrowing your enemy 's dagger to kill your enemies".

Now that both James and Bridget are being exposed even before the book launch both by prominent political aspirants in Singapore and Malaysia is only the tip of the iceberg. KDN/PDRM/MACC should embark on the immediate investigation, including the current top leaders in DAP, PKR and old the skimmers in UMNO/BN both in West Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. There are many political pawns around and the CID should build up their dossiers and act accordingly in order to protect our national security.Tun Mahathir is also playing the power game in order the protect his new legacy in Kedah through the Muhkriz administration.

In the final analyst, why are they so obssesed with Omar Mustapha and Mustapha Ong in the current power tussle to grap Putrajaya the seat of power in this democratically elected BN government. Neither OM/MO are interested in building political power and patronage for themselves, through their UMNO roots in Gelang Patah and Pulai respectively? I don't understand why Unspinners and others are so obsessed in implicating OM/MO role in the power struggle on the aftermath of Anwar's downfall and followed by Mahathir and Pak Lah's exit in the political succession process.

Simple, both OM/MO are obvious King Makers and protectors in Najib's administration since the mid 1900s. It is pathetic, when race (being Chinese reverts) and all Mamaks should be rid off the political power and make way for the real "Malay" political power in this country! They are no such thing as "real Malay leaders" and therefore is better to leave all the pro "Cinbengs and Mamaks to run this country for the good and survival of satu bangsa Malaysia".
