Wee's Q of the Week #2

"SHOULD the Ministry of the Federal Territory be abolished ...?"

Ah, Zulhasnan Rafique, they want your scalp ....!
Click HERE to respond to your blogging MP for Wangsa Maju. This is the second instalment of Wee Choo Keong's Your MP's Question of the Week series.

The first, a burning question about Air Asia/Malaysia Airlines, drew 150 fiery comments (click here). Wee told me he plans to condense the response and comments from readers and send them to Air Asia boss Tony Fernandes for feedback.
Sounds like something good could come out of this.

Our country politicians had been abusing their power to do wonders for the benefit of their wallets. Can the oppositon help us check whether they also had their Midas touch on our banking system, taking full loans without any collateral assets? Can opposition also help us check how loan allocations were done in our banks? Is it mainly to their "family" ? Cos I found our banks had been too conservative in giving out loan during the past 4 years.

    YB Wee
it seems that the BN government should really consider their standing on all issues affecting governance and the people especially after the 12th GE. the BN government should not entertain the idea of giving further subsidies to any private investment or enterprise without any form of consultation and open discussions on the merits of it. in the past the BN government have mistreated the rakyat and treating us like juveniles and if they continue to do so, why dont the BN government just group all of us the rakyat- and sell us off as slaves to the US and then slowly sub-divide the whole nation and sell them to rich multi-billionaires and include some malaysians as their servants whilst they can live off from the proceeds and migrate over to London or US. that's how i view the government for the past few years - acting as the country and the people exclusively belonging to them and i have had enough and now contemplating of using further tax payers money for Air Asia. if Tony Fernandez is so good as the press had portrayed him in the past then why need government funds/subsidies - go on your own and tap on international funds since Sir Richard Branson is one of the shareholders of Air Asia and is wealthy then Tony should not hv any problems in finding financiers- unless he is just a 'fake' like so many of those bumiputra business people who depended so much on govt financial assistance and cant survive without handouts from the govt.

    Bro Rocky,
Zulhasnan Rafique is lame duck FT Minister. Boleh jimatkan wang if we do away with the Ministry.

Re Air Asia, there is a lot of hot air. Misalnya, airplanes to be bought, they keep repeating the planes to be bought sampai double counting. Lagi pun, make as though can afford to buy the planes because making super profits. Kebetulan adalah profits of Air Asia tidak wujud. Qeustions from Bro Wee to Bro Tony Fernandez will put Tony on a spot unless he bull-shits again like what he did at Sharizat's ceramah.

It must be the only place in the world where a city is 'run' by a mayor and minister.

It can only happen in the capital of BolehLand.....

I am looking forward to read about the burning questions for Tony Fernandes.

For a start, why must the Federal Government build the LCCT for the exclusive used of Airasia. What interest has SLeepy Head, SIL and his cronies have in Airasia.

Airasia should not be given any legon to fight MAS, our national carrier.

The Sleepy Head must ask Airasia to pay up all their debts to MAB and MAS immediately.

After the general elections, Tony Fernades and his gangs are very quiet - elegant silence! Once the Sleepy Head is political dead, we must go for these cronies period.

    Hi Bro,
This is not the time for this debate. The 10 MPs from KL should focus on the job. Refusing to meet up with the FT Minister is not a smart move. One must always engage the "enermy" to move forward. The relevence of the FT Ministry can be taken up as a matter of due process by and by but not as main theme. Cheers

Definitely we do not need a Minsiter fro FT. It is just a ministry created as handout to the UMNO politician. It is a waste of public fund. If UMNO need the someone like Zulhasnan tehn creat a special post under BN and paid all expenses from BN own fund.

Please do not abuse public fund to help out UMNO/BN.

Airasia is just set up for the Sleepy Head's cronies. You know who: the two Ks.

Tony is damn quiet suddenly. Tony was very active during the GE. He went to give political talks at several BN ceramah. Tony needs political patronage to survive otehrwise Airasia will be in the trouble.

Now that the Sleepy Head is on his way out, you will definitely see Tony and gang will be even more quiet.

    Bro,

    Re: Air Asia

    Classic example of:

    (Sir Freddy Laker)
Laker Airways v Sect.of State of Transport.

    Analise the reasons of appeal.

    Quest.Any similarities?

    Wassalam.

    Pak Rocky

I've posted my answer to Wee Choo Keong's question re AirAsia on his blog.

Imho, Sdr Wee is not familiar with the workings of the airline industry. And, so too, are most of the people who posted answers on his blog.

If running an airline business is a piece of cake, a doddle, which one can do in one's sleep, then why haven't more intrepid Malaysians taken the plunge and started their own low-cost airline?

It's easy to condemn and find fault - Malaysians do this par excellence. Aussies call it the "tall poppy syndrome".

Maybe AirAsia should pack up, delist from Bursa Msia and move to Singapore where the welcome mat will be laid out for them. No doubt such a move will be greeted with cheers by MAS and the more benighted exponents of Malaysian-style nationalism!

    Cheers!

Could I, thru yr blog, ask Sdr Wee to comment on the size of the Malaysian Cabinet?

And why Msian ministers are seemingly capable of only single-tasking, unlike the multi-tasking capabilities of their Singapore counterparts?

You know where I am going with this, right?

Why don't the Feds just give up Kuala Lumpur FT and return it to Selangor state?

    Just concentrate on Putrajaya.

What cabinet? Nothing to shout about. Some of the members of the cabinet are of very questionable background!

For a start the PM is no longer fit (in every sense of the word) to carry out his function as the top executive of the country. So his size of cabinet is not a point of contention.

The point of contention is the Agung should not have sworn him in. Since he was sworn in, the Agung still has the absolute power to remove or sack him in the light of the "uprising" in his UMNO and BN. Further, the political chaos in the country, which does nto speak well of Malaysia in the foreign eyes. There will be no foreign investment until the political situation is stable. I cannot see any stability when we have a lame duck PM in power.

Remember the precedent in Australia some twenty years ago, where Governor Kerr of Australia sacked the then Premier Gough Withlam. Why can't this be done here?

    Hi Bro,
Good Q but from wrong person.Whether this Ministy should remain or abolish , its doesnt matter here Kementerian WP dihidupkan semula selepas tahun 1987.Former FT Minister like Tun M and Tan Sri Tain Mahmud all have done a good job.If not Zulhasnan someone else outside from KL jadi FT Minister lagi teruk.FT Minisry ada role dia jugak. Kalau nak hentam pun kenalah asa rasionalnya.Salam Perjuangan.

Yes it should..bukannya ada function apa pun. takat nak jaga fed-tories tu tak perlukan kementerian..pakai local govt dah cukup. Better create more ministrial posts for Sabahan and Sarawakian YBs lah.
