Happy Birthday

Dr M is 82 today. His "official" date of birth is Dec 20, 1925 but Mahathir Mohamad was actually born on July 10 that year.
Yesterday, July 9, was the 22nd anniversary of the first Proton that was rolled out. I doubt it will see 23.

Happy Birthday, Tun.

I wonder if this country will see its 82nd. birthday...judging by the way it is being run and the morons sending us back in time instead of going forward ! We will probabaly see a 82 B.C. birthday at this rate !
But I will raise a glass and drink to Tun's good health !

  3. my best wishes to Tun.

Aaah....Proton. I still remember covering the assignment in which Musa Hitam (then DPM) announced the country's plan to produce a national car.
and then, not long after, I and several journalists tested the proton saga.
i remember the look on motorists' faces we passed along the federal highway. we got the thumbs-up all the way.

    of course, today......

    Happy Birthday Tun.
About Proton, there are plans to turn it around internally. Would have been done earlier if not for intervention. Lets wait till the 3rd week of this month to see something followed by middle of next month and then in January 2008. This internal plan would most likely work.

I hope Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah are both doing fine healthy on vacation somewhere in Turkey.... (that's what I read from the bloggers net).

Tun, please take good rest always. We some Malaysians may be little bit selfish by asking and/or begging you to make a comeback to the people thereafter straighten the nation.

When was the last time the World has its Mahatma Gandhi..., after Mr. Nelson Mandela...

    Take care!

  15. How times have changed. In school and in college I used to view him as the country's ultimate evil - the arrogance and seeming total disrespect the government seemed to have for its fellow Malaysians. This was epitomised in the lines "It is not necessary for us...to explain this or that" or "there is no need to discuss..." Not necessary? No need to discuss? I went to my one and only Opposition get together and realised these fellows were not good salesmen for hope. Grudging respect grew when he put Mat Sallehs in their place, helped us survive past '97 and kept us going when all seemed to be against us.I was asked once who I would like to meet in the world. I thought long and hard, figured out Catherine Zeta Jones might be bored with me, George Lucas would try to sell me more merchandise and... kept quiet. At that time saying Mahatir Muhamad at the crowded table seemed wrong. Well I'm saying it now, Tun Dr. Mahatir Mohamad.

  21. Dr M birthday today, is he?
Boy I thought it was in December

I met him once in Alor Star
When I asked him to sign his book
    “The Malay Dilemma”
He didn’t ask me to go away
Because I was companying him then

    He smile at me
    I gave him my pen
    And he signed his book
    I kept it till today

    Though I don’t really agree
With some of the laws passed in his time
Projects and helping his friends along the way
    But I should agree
He is a one mean machine
He says what is in his mind
    He doesn’t need advice

    Looking at our current situation
    We need someone like him
But he is now on the roadside
Like me and everyone of us

    Happy Birthday Tun Dr M
    May Allah grants you
His graces for you to tell the country
    Of the wrongs happening

  31. Nuraina, why mention the name of that weasel on such an auspicious day like TDM's birthday!

    Happy birtday, TDM!

When you were PM, you made us proud to be a Malaysian, and you were made the world see Malaysia in a different light.

Unfortunately, the light is flikering and looks like extinguishing itself.

I do not have any confidence at all with this whatcamacallit claiming Prime Minister. Is he really the Prime Minister? Or is his position called Prime or Puppet Minister?

As for Proton, with all the globe trotting meetings for the past 3 months with no results, maybe the foreign partner are not in a hurry to seal the deal but seems otherwise for Proton. Proton needed them fast n furious...

Thank you for the contributions, no words can really describe our appreciation. Some can write long story abt your bad sides but no one can deny the good things you have done, or compare you with the current PM...he is nowhere near you!

    Dear Ayahanda Tun Dr. Mahathir,

Jasa mu tetap kami hargai dan akan kami kenang sehingga akhir hayat.

I must tell you this: I took my late father to KLIA many years ago and when he stepped in, took a seat and he cried and said to me 'pejuang yang sebenarnya, yang memajukan negara tanpa rasa takut dan ragu2. Inilah dia pemimpin yang telah bawak Malaysia ke tahap yang ini.....abah kagum dgn pemimpin ini, dr, Mahathir.. manusia yang cekal merancang dan membina Malaysia.'

Yes, each time I go to KLIA, I take a pause and remember that moment.

Tun, Kami akan pastikan anak2 kami membaca mengenai Tun dan semua yang telah Tun berikan kepada Malaysia.

Semuga Allah memberikan kesihatan yang baik kepada Tun suami isteri.
