8.30 TONIGHT, TV 3

The PM goes on air, TV3, 8.30pm tonight, to tell us why MV Agusta was sold at 1 euro and why Proton is doing so badly lately.

I can't wait.

    Give The Man a chance to break his elegent silence! I am sure Datuk Kamarulzaman, the PM's inplant in TV3, will make sure The Boss says the right thing. I love to see REAL live Q&A between real journalist and the PM. Good luck all.

    Ah, the wheedled-prone old man trying to convince Malaysians that his administration is cleaner than the gutters of Singapore will take some persuasion, especially on the batallion of cynics inside Rocky's Bru, a hardened lot that even a nuclear meltdown cannot shut them down.
    I have been watching and observing the debate and comments with a silent approach lately because most of what has been spewed I have addressed in greater detail much earlier in different but relevant topics inside this blog.
    Bottomline: take a look at this crude pyramid of manipulation and control over Malaysia and tell me if its collapsing any soon:
    * Israel
    * Mossad
    * Singapore (MM/SM/PM)
    * Temasek/Parkway
    * Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
    * Pepper spray
    * Khairy Jamaluddin
    * Kalimullah Hassan
    * Brendan Pereira
    * Ho Kay Tat
    * Malaysian media/newspapers

    There little but tough resistance offered by the blogs would be inconsequential if the silent Umnoputra hacks sit on their cash-laden posteriors. What are they waiting for? An invasion? It's already started.
    And everything fishy you smell or suspect – Proton, MV Augusta, MAS, YTL's bullet train, AirAsia, Johor corridor, censoring blogs, Scomi, Maya Karin (maybe not but it still looks sexy) - are connected in an intricate web of power, domination and deceit.
    Are we screwed? Fortunately that is still too early a prognosis but it's gangreneous and needs to be severed.
    But are we resolute and courageous enough? Whatever we do, remember: we are in the true righteous platform and they whom we are attempting to debunk and expose will collapse under the weight of their false gods.

    the spirit of the great aab regime's transparency and media freedom, let's have the pm and the ex-prime minister together in a programme to trash out the issue.

    let khairy be the host as he has some experience doing that not too long ago (he wasn't bad, actually). nevermind if he bias and will try to make father in law victory (becaause pak lah is mad with him about this mykarin bisness). throw in hj kalimullah and tak gunasegaram behind the pm. hell, bring the whole cabinet to tv3 studio to debate with their former boss.

    that would be one programme i'll pay my month's salary to watch, man. all the AF in the world will not equal it!

    but of course no one will take dr mahathir on like that. for whatever we say about them, they are actually not that stoop-it (just in case bru decides not to publish if i use that word, u know).

    blogit to them, bru!

    Soalnya mengapa Annuar Zaini yang interview PM? Kepada orang yang tahu PM dan Annuar Zaini mereka dengan serta-merta mensyaki keaslian temu ramah TV3 itu kerana Annuar Zaini BUKAN wartawan. Dia TEMAN paling akrab kepada PM. Jauh lebih akrab dan intim daripada Kalumullah Hassan.

    Pakatan Abdullah-Annuar Zaini bermula sejak zaman GPMS dan Abdullah sebagai Pengarah Belia membawa kepada Biro Tatanegara, penjelajahan berkereta menyeberangi Amerika Utara dan Abdullah melawan Mahathir pada tahun 1987.

    Ke mana Abdullah pergi, Annuar Zaini tidak jauh. Anwar Zaini bagi tahu semua orang dialah penulis ucapan politik Abdullah. Di era Abdullah dia dilantik Pengerusi Bernama, Pengerusi Pusat Perubatan UM dan baru-baru ini dapat lesen kilang cetak duit bersama Vincent Tan dengan pinjaman RM600 juta daripada Bank Pembangunan Malaysia. Dia juga pengarah eksekutif konglomerat berasaskan hartanah, perjudian dan hiburan bernama Berjaya Group milik Vincent.

    Jadinya Annuar Zaini tidak mampu memberi kredibiliti kepada Abdullah melalui temu-ramah TV3, apatah lagi yang dewasa ini menguasai unit propaganda stesen itu ialah bekas Setiausaha Akhbar Abdullah bernama Kamarulzaman.

    Inilah yang berlaku bila orang bukan wartawan atau wartawan half-past six diamanahkan dengan media massa. Mereka akan mengubah saluran maklumat dan berita menjadi saluran PROPAGANDA. Tonton wayang kulit Abdullah-Annuar Zaini kalau tidak percaya kepada analisis ringkas ini.

    Its good to have PL on TV to dismiss all accusations against him by ex-PM. But, there are people (electorates) who want to listen to TDM too. TDM is not an opposition leader. He is our ex-PM and negarawan. By not giving TDM a fair airtime to counter all points raised by PL, I am sure the issue will never end just like that. Instead, It will broaden up. I can guarantee you that those who support TDM will demand for an equal treatment for him to appear on TV for a fair play. If the tv station refuses, the reputation of the particular station will be at stake.
    Bru, when we look at our own industry, we see that the media far too often ignore their primary mission: objective. Again and again we see that they slant the news. We want more balance reporting, but no one listen. The bias reporting continues.

    To Mat Rempit,

    Don't be so naive! You know how it works in the Malaysian media. He who controls Putrajaya, also controls the mainstream media.

    TDM did it when he was the PM. He did not give a shit to his detractors to air their views in UMNO-controlled media.

    Do you expect Pak Lah to do otherwise, especially with KJ in the background? Dream on....

  7. Anonymous5:09 pm

    Bro,
    Forgive my ignorance, but I was just wondering whether the telecast tonight was live or pre-recorded? But why does the PM even bother, after all part of the so-called "rumour mongering" going on incudes the said gentleman given the odious task of interviewing him! One of the 9 horseman of Malaysia's apocalypse!
    This is all a very bad joke that unfortunately will have an unhappy ending. I am by the way, still flummoxed by those who felt, during the early stages of his incorporation into UMNO, that KJ ought to be given a chance (of course, today things are very different!) to prove himself.
    For goodness sakes, the chap was the result of cheap political chicanery to say the least, and yet there we are trying to find some grace in the whole process. Let's be clear about one thing - the meteoric rise of figures like KJ is nothing new in UMNO, and until the party becomes more disciplined and its members become more discriminating, then I cannot imagine how things will improve.

    I am sorry to say this. Whether by hook or crook Anwar has to go. I couldn't imagine what if he is still in charge of Malaysian economy during the 1997 crisis. He will simply sell our country to IMF and allow them to dictate how we run the country. No more subsidies or even worse no more special priviledges to the BUMIS. So where does that ends to. More chaos.

    Isn't Kamal's Scomi a big contractor to Petronas? Petronas is not foreign? How do you spin Kamal's "nuclear" partner being held under ISA and Kamal is free?
    Isn't Scomi a contractor to KTM. Yes the same api kereta you wrote about? What about Scomi servicing Maxis/Astro vehicles. Oh yeah, Astro is domiciled in London.
    What about KJ's Halal Hub and Myteam sponsorship? What about KJ's link to Singapore tycoons.
    Yes, deputy umno chief is an elected post, but was KJ elected? Nahi, won uncontested mah!

    Kamaluddin, Khairy Never Get Govt Projects, Says Abdullah

    KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Monday night denied his son, Kamaluddin, and son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, have benefited including getting government projects from his position as Prime Minister.

    Abdullah said since becoming Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Kamaluddin and Khairy never abused the family ties to get government projects.

    "Kamal (Kamaluddin) never misused his relations with me. Kamal was never involved in local companies or concessions. No. He never asked any help from the government. Never in anything that needs bail-out," said Abdullah, who took over the country's leadership from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the end of 2003.

    Abdullah said this in a 40-minute interview with Bernama Chairman Datuk Mohd Annuar Zaini in the "Bersemuka Bersama Perdana Menteri" programme aired by TV3 Monday night.

    Kamaluddin is the biggest shareholder in the oil and gas services company Scomi Group while Khairy owns a small interests in the investment bank ECM Libra Bhd.

    Abdullah said Kamaluddin had to find projects overseas because he did not want to linked with his father.

    "If people ask why go overseas, he (Kamaluddin) will say father (Abdullah) is the prime minister, it's difficult to earn a living locally. His contracts, his business, 80 per cent are from overseas. That is his livelihood," he said.

    Abdullah also quashed rumours that Scomi had been awarded the monorail project in Penang.

    On Khairy, he said his son-in-law took a loan to buy shares in ECM Libra.

    "But, to say he grabbed projects, I've no evidence with me that Khairy has taken government projects," he said, adding that Khairy never met him to ask for projects.

    Abdullah said he never interfered in his son-in-law's political career and Khairy's position as Umno Youth deputy chief was an elected post by the movement.

    "I am being frank. I don't know if (Umno Youth chief) Hishammuddin (Tun Hussein) is angry with me. Hishammuddin says "the Youth has decided, I have decided, I want to nominate Khairy for Youth deputy head, Pah Lah don't disturb, this is Youth affairs," he added.

    Is this kind of 1st Class of Mentality the PM is talking about by the "quality" of the interview.?

    More like shiok sendiri.

    People want to know very simple things:-

    1. Why the crooked bridge was cancelled which was sacntioned by him just months ago.

    2. Was the sale of sand a condition set by Singapore?

    3. Why declassified document which is not related to the issue validly ask by Tun M.

    Please Pak Lah, don't think we are dumb.

    We want document to tell rakyat:-
    i) why bridge cancelled and
    ii)Singapore want sand as a condition for the bridge. STRAIGHT FORWARD enough?

    4. Why give thousands of APs to individual who don't even have show room

    4. Why allow ECM Libra (in which KJ acquired few millions shares just before the announcement to the deal with Avenue), a smaller company to acquire the assets belonging to MOF at steep disount.

    5. How can Pak Lah say "I don't know" and "I am not aware" on that ECM deal where he is also the Finance Minister. This is unbelievable.

    Many people on the streets are not fan of Tun M, but issues raised by Tun is valid, u just have to ask any sane and wise people.

    People blindly throw the vote for Pak Lah in the previous election for Clean, Work With Me, Anti-Corruption, Tell Me and catalogue of others rhetorics.

    After 3 years, results = Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin., thats the perception.

    If Pak Lah didn't say all those things, but instead say " I will contuniue with whatever rubbish and corrupt practice under Tun M, its fine . At least we don't see it as misrepresentation now. Are we short-changed?

    The suffering from the effect of Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin is really excruciating.

    The plebian on the streets are suffering, crime rate is crazy, cost of living increasing.

    Kacau
    Okay. Gotta be careful with this one. Don't want to kena for nothing:

    Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Monday night denied his son, Kamaluddin, and son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, have benefited including getting government projects from his position as Prime Minister.
    ... "Kamal (Kamaluddin) never misused his relations with me. Kamal was never involved in local companies or concessions. No. He never asked any help from the government. Never in anything that needs bail-out," said Abdullah ... [Bernama]

    But do you have to ask Daddy for favours to get the job?

    No you don't.

    And is it entirely accurate to say that "Kamal was never involved in local companies or concessions" ("Kamal tak pernah terlibat dalam syarikat tempatan ataupun konsesi-konsesi, tak ada")?

    What do you call this?

    Scomi Group Bhd is believed to have won a contract worth as much as RM50 million from KTM Bhd, the national railway company, to overhaul and maintain its wagons, sources said yesterday.
    Mail Money was told that the contract is for five years, and will involve the maintenance and overhaul of as many as 1,000 wagons.

    Scomi did not respond to questions sent by Mail Money over the last two weeks, but a senior executive confirmed the award of the contract.

    The contract was awarded last year by KTM, after it had invited several companies to participate in a closed door tender exercise. [Malay Mail]

    Isn't KTM a GLC?

    And this:

    Scomi Group Bhd will submit a bid by the end of March for a contract worth some RM120 million to make body parts for about 400 buses for state-owned Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd, sources said.
    Scomi is also pitching for another job from a big GLC (government-linked company) to manage its fleet of 6,000 vehicles. [Business Times]

    Isn't Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd a GLC?

    And this?

    Scomi Marine Bhd has received a letter of intent from TNB Fuel Services Sdn Bhd for a coal shipment contract for three years from Oct 1, with an option to extend for another two years, the company said.
    Scomi Marine told Bursa Malaysia on April 14 that under the contract, it would be required to transport 500,000 tonnes (with 20% variation) of coal from Australia, Indonesia and South Africa yearly.

    It said TNB Fuel Services would determine the actual quantity of coal to be transported and from which country upon finalisation of the contract. [The Edge Daily]

    Isn't TNB a GLC?

    And this:

    Scomi Group Bhd, an oil services company, has won a contract from Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd to provide drilling fluids and other services for exploration works in Block 1, offshore Turkmenistan.
    ... it is estimated that the contract would contribute about RM57 million a year to the revenue of Scomi, it said in a statement yesterday. [Business Times]

    Isn't Petronas a GLC?

    I'm sure that in all of these instances, there were tender exercises. And I'm sure that everything was legally above board.

    But how come Scomi was such a "non-entity" before October 2003? The timing sure sucks.

    AND ON Khairy:

    ... he said his son-in-law took a loan to buy shares in ECM Libra.
    "But, to say he grabbed projects, I've no evidence with me that Khairy has taken government projects," he said, adding that Khairy never met him to ask for projects.

    Again, the question is not where your son-in-law got the money to buy the shares. And it is not whether he has been awarded government projects or not (in case you hadn't noticed sir, your son-in-law isn't exactly stupid).

    The questions (yes, there's more than one) are as I asked in this post -- questions that neither you nor your son-in-law has answered.

    And finally, this "explanation" is just sad:

    "I am being frank. I don't know if (Umno Youth chief) Hishammuddin (Tun Hussein) is angry with me. Hishammuddin says "the Youth has decided, I have decided, I want to nominate Khairy for Youth deputy head, Pah Lah don't disturb ["Pak Lah jangan kacau"], this is Youth affairs," he added.
    Hisham said "I want to nominate Khairy" ... now that's interesting.

    For someone who "picked" KJ as his deputy, Hisham has hardly put up a sterling defence of his annointed one. Whatever the case, he's gonna have to put up one now.

    Even more interesting is that Pak Lah said Hisham told him "jangan kacau".

    It sounds like Pak Lah here is trying to impress upon us that not only was KJ as deputy youth chief NOT his idea, it was Hisham's, and that if Umno members were unhappy with Khairy, then don't blame the party president.

    But what kind of party president so easily caves in to the demands of his youth chief?

    It's a pity. That 45 minutes could have served a purpuse. Maybe they did. Annuar confirmed his megalomania. Not a bad thinker but a better megalomania.
    Pak Lah was resolute. He spoke from the heart about what he thought he knew best -- his son and son-in-law.
    Kamal not getting government projects? What about those billion ringgit Petronas supply contracts?
    Either the PM was not telling the truth or he hasn't been reading. Both are wrong, very wrong.
    Read this: KUALA LUMPUR (AFX) - Scomi Group Bhd said its wholly owned subsidiary Kota Minerals and Chemicals Sdn Bhd has received five separate letters of award to provide drilling fluids materials, equipment and services with an estimated revenue of 1.5 bln rgt.

    The contracts were from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Shell Bhd, Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc and Nippon Oil Exploration (M) Ltd.

    In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, Scomi said Kota Minerals and Chemicals is in the process of finalizing the terms and conditions of the contracts to be signed.

    'Based on the letters of awards, the contracts are expected to be for a period of four years with an option for the tender parties to extend for another two years.

    'Based on the number of wells indicated in the joint tender document, the company estimates the revenue to be generated from the contracts to be approximately 400 mln usd (equivalent to approximately 1.5 bln rgt), ' it said.

    Scomi Marine Secures RM49.12 Mln Contract

    KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- Scomi Marine Bhd has secured a RM49.12 million contract to transport coal from Australia, Indonesia, China and South Africa for TNB Fuel Services Sdn Bhd.

    In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Scomi Marine said under the contract, the company was required to transport 500,000 metric tonnes of coal per year, subject to 20 percent variation at TNB Fuel's discretion.

    The actual contract value would be determined based on the actual load of coal to be transported by the company.

    Scomi Marine said that it was required to provide a performance bond in the sum of RM2.456 million, being approximately five percent of the maximum value of the coal to be transported in one year.

    And what about the cheap sale of government-owned Avenue Capital Resources to Kali-Khairy controlled ECM Libra? PM is also Finance Minister.

    Why only Kamal and Khairy? What about the people's hardship, their issues? What about crooked bridge, sales of MV Agusta, APs?

    It's sad that a golden opportunity like that was devoted to portraying PM as a loving caring father who did not know what his son and son-in-law were up to and a megalomaniac friend who had his own agenda to promote.

    No substance at all in the Pak Lah's interview. I guess if you put a drama actor to give an interview and you ask him to reherse the script, I believe he can do better job than our Pak Lah. Our actor can show better repertoire of emotions,i.e. very angry with all the accusations label , no-nonsense in giving instructions, looking very religious by reciting a few quranic versus, depicting as a victim from all these wild accusations and appear innocent as not involved in all these dirty and corrupted business around.

    I guess Pak Lah wanted to be like the ex US President cum Hollywood actor, Ronald Reagan , however, Ronald Reagan can be categorised as grade A actor, but Pak Lah the best you can do is a grade C actor. People are able sympathize when Mr Reagan gave his speech, eventhough there was not much substances in the speech after all.

    Just wondering how many takes Pak Lah has to go through in the interview before they decided it was the final cut to be aired.

    And the audicity to lie through their teeth. Clearly, our man is fed the wrong facts agin or being manipulated by some advisors...no not my SIL so say the man of the hour.

    If I'm Pak Lah the father, that's what I would do - defend my son and my son-in-law.

    If I am Pak Lah the PM, I would ask Khairy Jamaludin to shut up and drop his post in UMNO Youth.

    But for Kamaludin, it's a bit difficult. He's a businessman, so let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

    Dear Rocky,

    If you happen to know Jeff Ooi, can you please ask him to GROW UP and stop with that SHOOTING topic? childish.

    Thanks.

  35. arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! wawancara yang sangat-sangat memalukan. Tiada isu besar seperti Proton, Avenue capital, NSTP yang disentuh secara tuntas oleh Pak Lah.

  36. Hiya Rocky.....

    so, there i was,2030hrs,waiting to hear straight from the horse's mouth.And it goes something like this... yada,yada,yada....yada,yada,yada...and some more of yada's... and some neighs too....
    Hello?? PakLah??? U at home? Explanation session or 'masuk bakul angkat sendiri' session? Maybe i understand this whole thing wrongly, but, mana jawapan2nya? Off the cuff: a) the latest correspondence on the sand controversy during his watch; b) the benefactors and logic of the MV Agusta sale; c) the untenable position of a certain former GEIC-turned chairman's contradiction on his take of a certain encounter; d) the nod-nod-wink-wink influence of a certain family member over most govt matters; e)apa lagi yek...my brain can't seem to list it all down now...maybe after a few bru's (the cheapo type lah) i can prioritize the list in better order and clarity. My point is this.. It seems to me PL simply can't handle the hammer, much less see the nail, in order for him to address all persoalans of the day...
    I honestly feel the discontentment of the average Mamat will cause the undoings of UMNO. U want to know our (at least mine la) biggest problem? It is BN ... asyik Barang Naik harga tak henti-henti...( harga lah, not our appendage,ok?) So many unanswered questions lah.
    Rocky.. maybe my Bru is not strong enough, care to imbibe me with some of yours?..;)
    Cyall, and godbless.......

    what a show.

    Annuar Zaini performed well.
    But let me tell you something, bro. And you would probably agree.

    A real journalist would follow up with questions. Example, on his son's involvemnet in business. The PM said he had to take his business out of the country because he cannot get business here.
    I am in shock! But if I were sitting across the PM, I would have asked him about Scomi's business profile...... what about all those contracts Scomi won in the country.
    But no folo-up.

    And on KJ -- no one accused him of getting govt projects.
    No need to deny this.
    The allegation is that KJ influences the PM, abuses his relations with the PM. The fact that he got the loan to buy the ECM Libra shares.
    If he werent the PM's SIL, would he be able to get that RM9m loan.
    Puh leeze!

    I dont want to run down my beloved PM. But he sure has some really bad advisors.

    I am so sorry that the NST had to spin the story.

    Anyone care to be PL's communications adviser? He seems to need one very badly now.

    The earlier advice to be "elegantly
    silent" seemed to work well, until he opened his mouth last night.

    I pity PL. He is such a good man, husband and father. Alas, he's surrounded by some unscrupulous people.

    No Singapore company controlling Malaysian companies? What about Pantai? Officially, with Parkway having 31% of Pantai shares, they have full management control.Yesterday, Edge website reported that that Singapore govt holds 5% of Pantai.
    So, the govt concessions to Pantai in the form of Fomema and Medivest are now under foreign control, right?

    Saya tengok wawancara tuh. Saya hanya rakyat biasa, tetapi bila dengar cara dia cakap, tak boleh nak elakkan untuk membandingkan Pak Lah and Tun Mahathir.

    Saya kecewa dengan dengan jawapan Pak Lah... Yang saya tahu, undi untuk BN for the next pilihan raya adalah kosong. Saya tidak peduli siapa pembangkangnya tapi... BN babai la...

    courtesy of Ibni Hakeem..

    The Star newspaper reported the PM saying this :

    "Previously, when Datuk Seri Law Hieng Deng was the Science, Technology and Environment Minister, I called him and asked him to check on open burning activities. He then rushed out to get to the bottom of the matter"

    Law Hieng Ding was Minister of Environment under the Mahathir Cabinet. The Minister of Environment under the Badawi Administration is Adnan Satem.

    1. for the pm to be interviewed live on air to answer all issues means there is a very big problem. if there is no truth whatsoever to these rumours that are circulating, then there would be no talk on the streets. if these so called rumours are rubbish or fabricated, they would normally be ignored.

    2. if tv3, the gov or malaysia is really interested in an interview try putting up a panel to discuss the issues at hand comprising of the pm, tun m, and other relevant authority or figure. the fact that these 2 individuals are not seated together indicates there is a big problem in the country. better still, have khairy and tun m in the panel if the young gun believes he can take the old man on. they need not be in the same room - can do a crossover like cnn.

    3.so does this interview silence the critics? i believe not - i doubt it had much impact on the urban dwellers. it might have consoled the kampung audience.

    4. i believe it's not the pm people should be worried about but those around and under him. advising for the country or for their own benefit - this is what the pm should really carefully look into.

  45. ex bt reporter,

    Regarding Scomi getting five letters of award (re: oil & gas biz), if I am not mistaken, Scomi is the only Malaysian company having the AP to import the drilling fluid materials.

    If so, that will explain why they got the biz.

    We need someone from the O & G biz to confirm/verify this. Anybody?

    In the first place as a Father in Law, when someone suggested that Khairy should run for Youth Deputy Chief, he should just say, " No needlah, so many more able people to run" thus stopping the process and letting the people to decide instead of letting another Dynasty to happen-Hussein Onn, Tun Razak, AAB-etc....during TDM's reign, it was a no-no to even mention his sons name to be proposed a position in the party, now, I applaud and understand TDM for his moves. I guess the interview on TV was more about explaining his family's (esp the tree monkey story teller)malchance of being rich and being awarded some "pitiful" overseas contracts or becoming into posession of some "meagre" nos. of shares...yada..yada...
    well....to the rakyat who were listening and waiting for more concrete answer to the country's economy, well, wait for the next 6 months "kedai kopi" talk, that is if we still can voice our grouses in these blogs...and TDM is still allowed to talk...what a shame, a Former Party President, Former Prime Minister, is being banned from addressing these issues and banned from talking to party members, what is so great about this Man that aab is so afraid of him....tsk tsk tsk

    No wonder Paklah performance was very poor during the interview because one of his advisor can only tell a story about the monkey shaking the trees.
