In Malaysia, the blogs just won't fade away

For a government agency like MYNIC to organise what it hopes to be the country's largest gathering of bloggers, it shows that the influence of bloggers isn't waning as some advisers would like their political masters to believe. But before you SoPo bloggers get your knickers in a twist, this is NOT about us. At the event, 12 mini seminars will be held, celebrity bloggers will be invited, and awards will be given to 10 blog categories --- none of it concerns socio-political bloggers such as TheUnspinners, OutSyed The Box, Helen Ang, or A. Kadir Jasin. Just as well, I suppose.
MYNIC is the sole administrator for web addresses that end with dotmy. Eg rockybru.com.my and mole.my

"...it shows that the influence of bloggers isn't waning."

Perhaps not, but people now are smarter than we give them credit for.

Paid agendas can be readily identified by sheer smell.

Bloggers can create a positive, useful, unifying change for our beloved country as well, but who the hell 'up there' is going to pay for that kind of fluff?
