Even by popular votes, Pakatan Rakyat did lose convincingly

Pakatan Rakyat lost popular votes in 9 states, Labuan and Putrajaya is the kind of basic analysis that should have come from deep inside BN's intelligence. The piece totally obliterates past and future claims by Anwar Ibrahim and his army of sore losers that Pakatan had won the popular votes therefore they should be declared the winner of the 13th General Election and so he should be Prime Minister of Malaysia [Barisan secured 133 parliamentary seats against PR's 89 to win the polls by a simple majority].
But no, the analysis was written by blogger Syed Akbar Ali, who does it in his free time and without any help from BN. In fact, he based his analysis almost entirely on data made available by Malaysiakini, the pro-Pakatan website!

The data also proves Najib Razak right about the "Chinese tsunami". In states and areas where the majority of the population are Chinese, BN was given a trouncing. There's room for improvement but the Malays have certainly swung back to BN this time around. That can be attributed to not just UMNO's strength (with the exception of UMNO in Selangor, perhaps) but also the weakening of PKR and PAS where support from the Malays is concerned. But while UMNO has grown stronger, its partners in BN, especially MCA and Gerakan, are struggling to remain relevant. Sabah and Sarawak are solidly BN and, with a more Cabinet representation this time, the two states are expected to resist Pakatan's brand of politics for a while.
Read OutSyed the Box's piece again h e r e and make your own analysis.
p.s. The PM has finally come out to say that BN did not steal victory in GE13. Should have done this sooner and should have borrowed some of Tuan Syed's arguments ...

Then why not be honest and tell us how many of them are phantom votes, double votes, illegal immigrants votes, EC engineered votes and many others.

Without these votes, BN percentage vote will be less than 40% for all we know.

Rocky together Syed, are blatant liars. For the sake of money, both of you are willing to sell your souls.

Chinese Tsunami indeed, a Tsunami on racial basis..
In the history there have always been times, Malays got split due to several issues..

DAP and Chinese have read the situation and taken advantage of this split to push for all they want..
and this lunatic Anwar Ibrahim has promised them everything under the Sun.
Using this Malay disunity to gain power and push for a total revamp of what the country to their Ideologies..
A lot of which is still hidden to their coalition partners.

In Golf we amateurs at club level plays in weekly and monthly competitions Sometimes the club Captain determines its play based on strokes,or at other times we have stableford play and also bogey play. Everyone plays off to a predetermined time and also carry handicaps based on their prowess and capabilities
In our politics every 5 years or so the Club captain or the SPR determines the play which is always based on "First past the post" ie the party that gets more than 111 seats wins
This game format is also being used in most Commonwealth countries unless they are Republics
So understanding and following the set rules will make the sport or the country more bearable and fair...so if BABI now says hes won what rules is he talking about?

Yes, I agree. BN's intelligence should have come up with this earlier and counter attack the other party ruthlessly. Tegakkan kebenaran and lawan dgn penuh keyakinan.

Ni tak, majority leaders macam penakut and mcm sembunyi bawah ketiak mak. Ni nak jadi pemimpin ke tak ni? Kalau tak, buat penat je org semua undi. Tapi bab berebut jawatan no. 1!

So it's time to show your capabilities, BN leaders. Undi kami bukan undi sampah ok. Yes I know 'action speaks louder than words', 'truth prevails' and 'peace, progress and stability' without kekacauan etc. tapi kita juga perlu bangun and tangkis segala tohmahan. Buat la perhimpunan (yg legal) or apa yg patut utk tegakkan kebenaran, insyaallah kami datang and sokong.

Jgn bercakap kosong masa time perhimpunanan agung je lebih. Speak and act fiercely at times in need, like now!!! Wake up! Tak sedar2 lagi ke dgn keadaan sekarang?

I dont think you and syed know your maths. If each man's vote is the same and if each constituency has no variation of more than 15% than B.N would not have won the 13 G.E election. Its just not logical to say that they won nine states when the constituencies are so lop sided.

Yet none of the so=called paid (very much BTW)Najib's cyber trooper to come out with what Syed Akhbar Ali has posted on the subject and analysis. I am perplexed as to how come no one from the government think-tank not make further or any research on Anwar's shouting on how popular he was when we found out it was the 90 per cent Chinese voters that were giving him and the oppositionthe popular votes, not the Malays!!

    Dear Bru,

Anwar is getting from bad to worse as he is trying to cling on his popularity in Malaysian politics. It's all about his greed for power and self proclaimed as the prime minister in waiting. Let him wait as he is going into his political recess and age is catching up with him. Anwar is not a political threat to PM Najib, UMNO and BN.

Anwar is a colorful politician who had maintained a good track record of walking in and out of court with the highest number of legal suits. Anwar is also a sensational political stooge far from the reality of assuming a national leadership with integrity and unstained principle. DAP and PAS are suspicious that Anwar had failed them in complementing with their political agenda to provide an alternative challenge to Barisan National.

Anwar is a political Lone Ranger and his prominent cronies and supporters will begin to abandon him in the coming months ahead. The end is near and PKR will end its political journey similarly to the struggle of Semangat 46 in the Malaysian political arena.

This only debunks the myth that the delineation of the election boundries have been drawn up fairly and proportionately. This further debunks the myth that minimal gerrymandering has occurred. Of course this word GERRYMENDERING has been conveniently misquoted to mean that GERRY WAS MENDING HIS FENCE and nothing more than that. These figures exactly tells you where the CIMBs were most likely sent to and the sorts of dishonesty that has happened within the states and constituencies. Machiavelli would have been proud with these results and the means used to achieving such end results. However, ex-PM Mahatir is utterly gutted with the poorer than expected results even as you and Syed try to spin your way out of this debacle. Sorry your opium is of low quality, no buyers here. Everyone, including all the international media knows and have acknowledged that PR won 51% of the votes as compared to the 47% garnered by BN. Everything is in print, so your take on this issue and spin is lame.

    Sdr Borhan,

Cara duit digunakan masa PRU13 betul2 mengingatkan saya kepeada pilihanraya negeri Sabah hampir 20 tahun dulu ..

  41. pakatan makes so much fuss about the "popular vote" yet so few countries actually elect leaders via popular vote.. most major countries are parliamentary systems that allows the government that wins the most seats in parliment to form the government, not via direct popular votes. Even the US presidential election, where 2 candidates go one-on-one against each other, the winnner is not chosen via direct popular vote, but through electoral college. Example: Goerge W Bush lost the popular vote to Al Gore in 2000 by more than half a million votes, yet became president... The system is there for a reason, and those wishing to win it but work and strategise how to do so.. You didn't hear PR complaining about this democratic voting system (which is practised in most countries) before the election, but lo and behold, now suddenly the system is wrong...

Is there anyone here who can state which countries actually vote for their leader through direct popular vote, instead of some complicated voting system? The Vatican probably...
