    Rocky,

When my husband died l was devastated, stunned and lost. Everyone was confusing me with all their bits and pieces of this and that. I had little children to feed, I was a full time housewife and unemployed at the time of his death.

    That was when I turned to the Quran for guidance, in anything that I am doubtful of;

    1. My duty as a widow, the dos and donts
    2. How to be strong having to become an instant bread winner or the family, inspiration and strength
    3. My duty as a single parents to my children, my little orphans, how to raise them, how to handle them.
    4. How to carry on and accept the demise of my husband.
    5. My duty and contributions to the community

I surely would advise all those placed in the same predicament as I, do the same. READ THE QURAN for guidance.

Alhamdulillah, 10years now, my children and me, we are doing more than OK…

  3. Calling people to read the Quran is the most difficult thing to do and I am sure Syed Akbar Ali knows about it.

Before I left the country (for good) I learned a very expensive lesson when I tried to do the same many years ago. It seems it is an offence to promote the idea of calling others to read and live by the the Quran alone. But don't be discouraged, we must continue to strive to unshackle the bondage of people, and that is what the Quran is about. If the Malays want a mental reform - the Quran is the answer.

Those who want to know what I have discovered from the Quran please go to my blog:

    http://mentalbondageinthenameofgod.wordpress.com/

My advise has always been to call people to Read the Quran, compare the information in the Quran with their inherited belief, and then think. Of course, we have to accept the fact that "The blind and the seer are not the same".

I'll read the Quran. But take a look at this..

Word has it that Malay Mail could well return to the NSTP stable in the near future. The afternoon tabloid was sold for RM3 million less then a year ago and it seems that a top gun is not too happy with its frankness in reporting the political situation in the country. So the order is out that NSTP should take Malay Mail back under its wings and the stage is set for "re-admission" (read buy back) of the paper within the next few weeks.

Read the Quran, spread the message of love and peace. Share your thoughts on the Quran.

I read it and share my thoughts with the world.

This is by far the world most dangerious book, yes is a book of love and peace but ultimately many people became evil after reading it.

The correct way of reading it is to read it as a friction but apply your own intelligent. Be careful if you don't and if you start to depend on it you became stuck at the bottom of the pot just like millions & millions does.

Muslims are allowed to read only Quran. So be it.
Will it be good if someone else starts a campaign 'Read the Srimad Bhagavat gita' and say it is open to Muslims as well!
How would you muslim bloggers react, I wonder.
Muslims lack any knowledge or respect for other faith. So they should first of all learn their own faith and don't try to ask others to read their holy book.
Muslims faith is seems so fragile that even acts like yoga is considered un Islamic. On other hand Muslims want others ro actually read the Quran!

How can the so called seer know who is blind? when he only knows his little world?
You only know one holy book. which incidently is like a dogma, which does not allow anyone to question. How is this any different from a communist way of indoctrination, especially you are disallowed from making any other comparisons or ways.
If you 'syok sendiri'with your faith carry on by all means but don't think others are 'blind'. You might live to regret!

Rocky, believe it or not, I've a surah Yasin, a Tafsir and a Quran on my work desk (not to mention a few Quran and Hadith website i have bookmarked). but not for reading, (shame on me, shame on me, shame on me!!!) tapi for deterring hantu-mantu segala mala maya karin or what nots yang kononnya ada kat opis building ni (how much more backward can i be??). God, admitting that in writing makes me so embarrassed.

but this is perhaps the wake up call i need. insyaAllah, i shall start writing about my favourite surah, Ar-Rahman.

thank you those who initiated the campaign.

I think it is a marvelous idea. Reading the Quran and the other Holy Books will certainly lead us to the path of Guidance.

My question is: please give me the website address where one is able to download the Quran

I think we are better of reading information that can help us progress in life in a far more concrete and practical way than to spend too much time reading holy books of any sort.

Here's advice that can help Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia alike to help prosper our country. Let's keep our religions personal. Let's learn about it during our leisure time. But if there is anything we should read and do more, it's material that can help us be useful citizens who can command self-respect for what he can do and achieve.

  17. Great campaing for some bloggers...

But make sure not just read the Quran but should supported by the Authentic Hadis. Thus the understanding will become more complete. Get teachers who are the experts such as for Indian like Ustaz Farid Ravi and etc or for chinese like Ust Ridhuan Tee, Ust Ann Wang Seng, Ust Hussain Yee and etc to guide and teach the meaning of Quran. These ppl are an expert in religion and Arabic language. Sometimes just read the english and malay translation can become a bit confusing due to that they may have the same meaning but with the different perspective.

Hopefully the fellow reader (muslim or non muslim) can receive a good guidance.

Rocky, it is great to learn the Quran but, let get the UMNO bastards to turn to the Quran for spiritual guidance...obviously, their cheating behavior demand remorse more than all others.
The non-muslims are quite capable to recognize a good religion, so they will know how to take appropriate actions. They say, "Clean your own backyard first...."

It is a laudable attempt to get people to read the Quran. But reading alone does not suffice if you do not understand the Quran. The surahs in the Quran were revealed to the Prophet PBUH over a period of time at various places and under various occassions and conditions. For the uninformed, they may find "discrepancies" in the Quran which can be very well explained if they seek opinions of the experts. Just a word of caution though but nevertheless, read the Quran and insyallah we shall be better persons.

I read the Quran when I was 12 years of age. Those days in the early seventies, I would read the Quran and discussed the interpretations with my Muslim classmate who would then asked his imam for whatever he wasn't sure. It was a healthy open conversation and a great learning process for the both of us. Can we do it now? Open discussion and debate the interpretations without fear of being reported and thrown into the sedition cell...errrrh...like RPK. At one point in history, it was not even safe to read the Bible; they could only hear the words when uttered by sanctioned religious official. Will the religious authority appreciates your initiative without viewing it as a dangerous, unguilded and unbridled action notwithstanding the good intention. If you can do it...you are actually making history of a sort here. All the best.

    Salam...

    Sharif Canaan, 9:18 AM

One good place to start: http://www.quranexplorer.com/Quran/Default.aspx - translated in so many languages.

I was blessed. 20years ago when we just got married, my late husband bought us a set of TAFSIR AL-AZHAR by Prof Dr. Hamka. I am not sure if it is still in circulation today. Prof Dr Hamka makes it so simple and light to understand.

However, on very specific topics, I also scouted around for other good references, to get the views of other scholars and the practices by other mazhabs. (I have a sis in law, Resident of UK, and she follows a different Mazhab, after doing indepth research in London).

In my case, take for eg. Faraid distributions. We need to also refer to the various Fatwas in our states. But to understand the beauty of the methods laid out in our Quran, we have to experience it ourselves.

The impact it did “to eratkan tali silaturahim antara keluarga”. And we also sedekah out of these Pusaka, to the needy. The changes made to suit the current ways of life, opportunity to make claims on Harta sepencarian and so forth.

I have a friend, after the death of the father, she set up an orphanage (housing 30 poor orphans), fully financed by the gains from her Harta Pusaka left by the late father. I envy her, I wish I could have done the same, to help the unfortunate orphans.

We will get all these kesedaran, especially so, when we read deeper the true meanings laid down in our Quran.

Everything laid out in such minute details, akan timbul kesedaran diri, begitu kerdilnya kita ini sebagai manusia.

    Cheers and happy reading

I urge for some muslim to read bible and make comparison too. It is good of knowing other ppl holy book too. Becoz once you have a deep knowledge is easy for you to share taught and discussion with other ppl from different religion. Unless some ppl want to ask for debate which it had happen to Ahmeed Deedat and Zakir Naik.

Citizen, does your Vedas and Bhagavad Gita have any English translation? If yes let me know where to find one, i really want to read it as I did with King James Bible..When it come to reading material the most important aspect is the contents, not so much of the literature.

(fury9) : how could the bible facts appear in Quran , 600 years late !!

Well bro, believe in God. The One and Only. After the Taurat, Zabur & Injil, He has come up with the updated version plus the guidelines of scientific knowledges and how to manage life & society manual called the Quran.
If time is the issue, how many centuries does it took for the 1st Latin Bible translations by the Romans from Hebrew script after Jesus death? Even initially, the Romans are prosecuting the Christians in the Colleseum & how many original Jesus follower did survive to advice on the Bible documentation after centuries of pogrom?
The modern New Testament Bible in English came from King James of England..how many centuries more did that take?

why so many versions of Bible translation? Which one really the speaks the original?

In the case of Quran, the translation to other language already begin during the Hijrah to Madinah when Muhammad s.a.w sent Abi Waqas r.a to China for missionary intead going together with him. The Quran was documented during the reign of the 4 Khalifah Ar-Rashidin whom had been with Muhammad s.a.w in the dakwah..all less than 10yrs ..preserved original Arabic text 1400yrs ago as seen today.

Have you ever play a scout game where one fella whisper a message to another and so on. After 10 fella ,try to compared the last yield message to the 1st original text..do they sound similar? Well lucky in that game you can still refer to 1st fella original text or even to the scout master.. but definitely not in the case of centuries lag of time!

p/s: The usury (RIBA) based financial system already collapsing in the world economic crisis whereas the Islamic Financial system kept growing well..Why? Man-made system vs God's guideline? Even now every banking be it Western or Chinese owned in Malaysia are adopting Islamic Financial systems to survive..Why?

God is Most Merciful & Most Gracious..Islam is for mankind, not only for Melayu or Pak Arab mangkuk..not many people even Muslim read Quran, they're only brainless followers..believe the words of the mortal more the the words of God..

    pro Hindraf,

Tq for the enlightment, bro.. I found out it is very interesting to know the facts that really echo the tune of my faith after all this while..
I do believe in God..THE ONE AND ONLY..God the Most Gracious & Most Merciful..on how well He has enlighthened the ancient people of the Holy Indus River before the Aryan Invasion..

Below are some extracts from Bhagavad Gita , Vedas & Upanishad.. really worth for all here to read and think.. so to those mufti2..pls read also before simply banning that Yoga mantra ...

[Rigveda 8:1:1] " O friends, do not worship ANYBODY but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him ALONE."

[Bhagavad Gita 9:18-19] "I am the goal of life, the LORD and support of all, the inner witness, the abode of all. I am the only refuge, the ONE true friend; I am the beginning, the staying, and the end of creation; I am the womb and the eternal seed. I am heat; I give and withhold the rain. I am immortality and I am death; I am what is and what is not"

[Bhagavad Gita 7:20]"Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures."

[Yajurveda 40:9] "Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste"
"They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements" (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). "They sink deeper in darkness, those who worship sambhuti."

[Svetasvatara, Upanishad 6:9] "Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."
"Of Him there are neither parents nor lord."

[Svetasvatara, Upanishad 4:19] "Na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no likeness of Him."

[Svetasvatara, Upanishad 4:20] His form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye."

---What else to say some more..thee shalth walk what thee preach..hath thee? What with all those idols worshipping? I do believe that a good Hindu shall not worship idols according to Bhagavad Gita 7:20 & Yajurveda 40:9

---What else do we expect in the Bible about God the One and Only..sure all echoing the same tune..of course

[The Bible, Mark 12:29] “Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”

[The Bible, Isaiah 43:11] “I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.“

[The Bible, Exodus 20:3-5 & Book of Deuteronomy 5:7-9] “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.“

[The Bible, Isaiah 45:5] I am Lord, and there is none else, there is no God besides me.”

---I also strongly believe..if we believe in the true God, than only we will believe in peace..
The fact that what causing chaos in this world today are the brainless religious followers that worshipped the words of mortals (their supreme leaders, imam, priest, rabbi, sami, whatever..) more than the words of the God.

p/s: kudos to Hj Ghazalee & Nik Aziz of course..the truth speaks for itself..
