16/9 THE Press Conference?

Anwar Ibrahim's 2pm Press Conference at the PKR hq at Tropicana, KL, is under way. We'll know one way or the other in a while. Me, I'm not waiting for DSAI to be PM but to see the last of the current one as Prime Minister.

I'm not there at Tropicana, but details later ...

Anwar claims to have 31 MPs (updated)

PETALING JAYA: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has claimed that more than 31 Barisan MPs have agreed to cross over to Pakatan Rakyat.

He, however, refused to reveal the names of the 31 MPs.

Anwar told a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday that he would do so when he meets the Prime Minister.

The Permatang Pauh MP also claimed that the transition to the new Government has been delayed a few days pending the meeting with Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.

He said it was up to Abdullah to agree to the meeting and its date.

In a letter submitted to Abdullah on Monday, Pakatan had made four demands to ensure a smooth transition:

1) That Barisan does not hinder or prevent the MPs from acting in accordance with their conscience and judgement;

2) That the Barisan government should not invoke the Internal Security Act to detain the MPs or any other current Pakatan MPs;

3) That Barisan government does not invoke emergency laws or police powers or suspend the Constitution or dissolve Parliament; and

4) That the Barisan government shall not impose roadblocks or impede MPs from going to Parliament or any institution of government.

I watched the press conference through his blogsite.

Incredibly confident, assured, calm and intelligent.

Loved how he spoke. Cara dia cakap memang tampak pemimpin yang bijak dan handal.

Walaupun aku tak sokong dia sangat, tapi... aku kagum :) :) :)

if confirm govt change, just change la... be it anwar or abdullah is the pm not the issue, so long that he can ensure good economy and safe for everyone... done!

it seemed that both anwar and abdullah is the culprit in making the situation caos. am tired with this sandiwara of the highest level....we rakyat continue to suffer

  12. Anwar is trying to unsettle MPs, cause the MPs are thinking:

"What's best for me and mah money now?"

If they think Anwar has enough to form the Gov, they will jump as well, not wanting to miss the bandwagon.

If Anward DID have the numbers, it would have been done weeks ago.

Then again, he IS a queen - a drama QUEEN - so it might just be his way.

Ini bulan Ramadhan. Takkan nak tipu?

He has it, according to some close sources. Rest assured.

Given that parliament is in recession, you must look at the remaining procedure for taking over, which is with direct negotiation with the head of the government to convince him that he has the numbers, and to get the prime minister to announce he is stepping down and abolishing the government.

    Now do you all understand?

if anwar continues to talk more than he suppose to, then BN can be rest assured that nothing gonna happen.

people like him (anwar) is good at flushing out 'gas asap' - just good for the image and also create uncertainty among rakyats and others.

stop it lah anwar, its all over. u also said, by 16 september, u will become PM or in a nicer words, Pakatan Rakyat will be sworn into power. or else, u urself said, u will step down.

now u dont want to step down which i think typical of u lah.

logic or not - he claims he got everything, but he said BN should give way to them. its like having all the power u can have, but then asking ur enemy to step aside and let u pass.

why u want to be clarke kent, if u can be Superman?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous4:01 pm

To be really democratic, if they no longer wish to be in BN, the 31 MPs should resign and then we need to have another round of elections.
That's the way to form a legitimate Government, not by way of party hopping. Then, if PR wins, so be it. Its the new Govt of the day.

To the MPs in question, without a new election process, you don't carry the mandate of the people. The people might have voted you in March 2008 not because of you as a person, but because of the party you are representing at the time of the polls. When you hop to the other side, you are betraying the trust of these people.

Forming a govt by way of party hopping sounds more like winning by way of cheating. That's cheating the rakyat, mind you.

Zaid saw "The writing on the wall"

MCA saw the futility of resisting change & ignorance.

Gerakan saw the stupidity of trying. So, now just be quiet and hope everything will turn out OK. Typically Gerakan.

“The Star” saw the prospect of doom- contradictory, isn’t it? Just like the words crisis in Chinese characters.

“NST”- just a hopeless basket case. Which direction to jump- not even sure. Sink or swim together, eh? Truly Comical news publication, this.

Anwar saw himself “The man who would be PM (king) but of what country?”

Rocky saw the prospect of a brand new novel (not biography, please!):”Chronicle of the dying days of a pervaded M dynasty”.

As for me, I saw a truly sad nation- with no sense of purposes & direction. Everyone is fighting & dipping into the last slice of the cake. I also saw myself watching a third rate movie being played out in the Malaysian screen. Having paid so much for the ticket, I demand my money back! {:-} <- that's my nickname

Pak Lah to call Anwar's bluff!!!
Pak Lah just concluded a Press Conference in Kepala Batas. He dismissed Anwar's claims that he had 31 MP's ready to defect, and asked Anwar to go ahead and reveal them. Pak Lah went on to say there is no need to meet Anwar and entertain his psy-war tactics.

If Anwar was allowed to meet Pak Lah, the probability is that Anwar would lie about what had transpired.

    4.30pm

In an earlier press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysiakini had reported "Anwar: We've more than 31 defectors"

But the fact that earlier in a separate interview AFP quoted PAS treasurer Dr Hatta Ramli as having said that the opposition coalition had 35 MP's shows that the coalition is just making up numbers as they go, and every Tom, Dick and Harry in the Pakatan has a different number of MP's they say are going to hop.

for me i believe in DSAI.

he has won. it is only a matter of time before the PM resigns. the government has already fallen. the signs are everywhere. the sudden ISA arrests, the minister gone rogue Zaid, SAPP drama, Gerakan crossover.

how can Paklah admin function without the support of the MP. the only thing that is stopping them from coming into the open are the crooks, the arrests and the threats.

the best scenario would be that Paklah admit that nobody wants him anymore and guarantees that a smooth transition of power takes place. i think the best way to achieve that would be for Paklah to be enlightened on his failure by his opponent frankly behind closed doors.

this government is going to fall. DSAI has said it loud and clear over and over again. there has been nothing except for a consistent and clear promise of a new government.

aah, nobody does it like him. i think that is why there are so many who are envious of him who would go through all the trouble to incriminate and dishonour him.

welcome new malaysia. goodbye corrupt BN

Husam Musa of PAS is a good choice.
Anwar is a blodody manipulator, in his coalition he is either fooling PAS or the DAP or both, perhaps he is just too desperate to usurp the PM post.
The way he answers critical questions in his interviews speak it.. he is a typical politician who is beating around the bush and never coming to the point, ever evasive answers.

he used cheap tactics to get support, when he promises abolishing NEP, obviously any tom dick and harry non-malay would join his wagon unconditionally.
Then amongst Malays he used PAS as a bait to fish Malay votes amidst their frustration for the current sleepy duck.

Mahathir's father who spoke Malayalam came from Kerala, Southern India. What is this bumiputra-through-the-back-door Maha-Shithead as some people are wont to call him engaging in more rhetoric (Verbal Diarrhoea)that none of the rakyat believe any more ?

This is how he and Daim Zainuddin pillaged and plundered Malaysia high and dry. He and Dr. Mahathir took Malaysia for a long shitty ride. They raped and stole everything and anything in sight. Too bad none stood up to stop them. The start of Malaysia BOLEH!

Buy and read the following book:

TUN DAIM ZAINUDDIN (synopsis of a forth-coming book)
by Professor Mohamed Zain; Professor of Technology & Strategic Management; College of Business & Economics; University of Qatar
    Author's CV, refer http://www.qu.edu.qa/doc/business/DR. MOHAMED ZAIN MOHAMED.pdf

Books have been written about Tun Daim Zainuddin, but not many people know who the real Daim is. He is famous for being taciturn. Everyone knows that Daim is the silent type; so silent, in fact, that the victims of his scheming and conniving have fallen like ten-pins without ever knowing what hit them.

He has, on the quiet, made a career of shooting poison darts, laying booby traps. and knifing friend or foe in the back. His hand is never seen, but his mark is everywhere. Truth be told, he has been at the root of many national crises, but his name has never been smudged, thanks to the wealth he wields and his bond of friendship with Dr. Mahathir.

Most members of UMNO's new generation are aware that Daim is an acquisitive millionaire and a macho man with a taste for young women, but they concede him these weaknesses because they see in him a suave and competent Economic Adviser to the Government. But the previous generation of Harun Idris, Musa Hitam and Manan Othman to name just a few of the old goons - they are the ones to ask in order to discover and find out who the real Daim is.

It was Datuk Harun Idris, ex Menteri Besar of Selangor who plucked Daim up from the depths of failure in the salt business. Daim's wife, Mahani and Harun's wife, Salmah were good friends and an influential pair in the early 1970s. It was wife power that moved Harun to give Daim 160 acres of prime Kampung Pandan land. And thus Syarikat Maluri was born.

There is no use speculating over how much Daim paid Harun. After all, the two were fast and furious fairweather friends. For the gory details, just ask Low Kiok Bow or Thamby Chik. They can relate how Daim cheated a land broker and greased Selangor state executive councillor and Mahathir's brother-in-law, Ahmad Razali for that piece of land.

Of course, Daim still had to pay for the land. In those days, it was not easy to borrow from a bank. Hence, he was forced to corrupt Bank Bumiputra. Lorraine Osman and Rais Saniman know how much he spent and thus bankrupted Bank Bumiputra in the end.

Manan Othman can no doubt confirm the figure, he was so close to Daim that they even shared a bosomy girl friend, with Manan often borrowing the bedroom at Daim's office in Taman Maluri for his regular nocturnal trysts.

Daim's elevation as Senator and, subsequently, Minister of Finance, was part of Mahathir's strategic plan. Mahathir's choice should surprise no one, after all the two were intimate friends from the same kampung in Seberang Perak, Alor Setar. Upon becoming Prime Minister on 16 July, 1981, the first thing on Mahathir's mind was how to sideline his arch enemy, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Daim told everyone he had no interest in politics, but all the while he was confident of getting the Finance Minister's job after a stint with the Senate. A few months after joining the Senate, Daim became Chairman of Fleet Communications, which owned the New Straits Times.

In 1984, he finally got his dream job and became the third most important man in the Federal Cabinet, after the Prime Minister and his deputy.

Musa Hitam, the Deputy Prime Minister then, was at first oblivious of the closet ties between Mahathir and Daim. Innocently, he expressed to Mahathir his disquiet and disdain over Daim's wheelings and dealings, particularly his award of projects and contracts to his own buddies, associates and cronies. It must have baffled him when all his complaints fell on deaf ears.

Although he was Deputy Prime Minister, he has no say when it came to economic matters, particularly privatisation and the assignment (to supporters) of economic projects or largesse. How disappointed Musa must have been to find that Daim could not care less about his effort to help his supporters secure some multi-million projects or contracts.

Daim succeeded in making instant millionaires of such cronies of Wan Azmi, Halim Saad, Tajuddin Ramli, Samsuddin Hassan, Razali Rahman and Tan Sri Basir (Rafidah Aziz's husband).

But Musa in the end was cast off as a poor ex-DPM. Musa once complained to Mahathir that Daim had stolen a number of his own supporters' project proposals, but again Mahathir ignored him. These were among the first acts in the eventual breakup of the Mahathir-Musa partnership.

As the interests of Mahathir and Razaleigh slowly bloated, Musa got squeezed out into oblivion.

  73. Can someone believe in this man? The Malay says that he is as 'licik' as 'belut". Today he says the delay is due to the difficulty fixing an appointment with PM. And yet he sets conditions for this meeting too. Tomorrow he will coin many more reasons as well as conditions. And this will go on and on. I think he has taken Malaysians for a ride. The majority of the Malaysians particularly those in Permatang Pauh have been so naive into believing that this man is a PM material. To these voters I say wake-up and stop hallucinating.

even if he says he has 300 MPs, it's meaningless without names and verifications.

But we can sense where he's going with his usual preemptive statement pointing to AAB to respond to his request for negotiations.

To AAB, no names, no proof, no meeting. Why should he? Its better for AAB to spend his time sleeping.

So suddenly the ball is on AAB's court.

He is not the one to be blamed if his PR government fails to materialise.

    clever....

but 25th sept date with the court is sure.

so there is more for anwar to blame. It's not his fault.

Asked whether he had advice for the Government, Zaid said it must start trusting its own people.

“If not, you will always worry which policy benefits which group. You can have a race-based party but you don’t have to be racist bigots,” he said on his last day in office.

    - Sadly there aren't many rational thinking Malays like Zaid around anymore -

    ReplyDelete
  86. 1-Anwar's credibility is tarnished BIG TIME for not meeting Sept 16 dateline. Everybody was waiting (not necessarily for him to be the PM)but NOTHING happened, except for a lame Media Conference.

2-It is not easy for me to trust someone to promise an important date (and ride on MALAYSIA DAY - which belongs to EVERYBODY not just PKR) without achieving it. That means he has overlooked some important issues (the constitutions, perhaps?) or else Malaysia has a new PM today.

3-Now, you really think this person can run a country, especially with our current political scenario and global financial chaos when he can't even meet a date he promised. (since before Permatang Pauh election?)

4-Simply, he is NOT good enough to lead a country.

5-And those 31 froggies, they are jumping ships because they love PKR so much? If they agree with whatever PKR is fighting for? if so, why didn't they fight for the same causes when they attend the Parliament sessions? Does that mean they didn't do their job. Or was it the money talking?

6-Now, you really think these 31 froggies (whether or not the are fictitious) deserve to be leaders to represent us?

    7-I have DOUBTS.

  88. Anonymous11:10 am

alok and to those who believe anwar is the future of malaysia, please consider this...

where did he get the money to dangle as much as RM5 million for potential froggies to jump over the fence?

why also do you need to entice the MPs with money? is that not a form of corruption?

anwar for a better tomorrow? I doubt it...what we need is a clean, efficient govt that hass been a stabilising factor for the country...

the answer lies in BN reinventing itself.

  90. Anwar, oh Anwar,..

You are caught with your pants down again! Shame on you.

But being Anwar, you are really unashamed and still trying to put on a straight face again and again. Still trying to hoodwink the rakyat. Enough la Anwar.

Anyway, you gave me a good laugh and I have to agree with Eddy that the best song to describe your predicament is ‘I Started A Joke’ by the Bee Gees. So appropriate.

Sometimes, - no, most of the times you take the rakyat to be fools. But I guess you succeeded in this as from what we saw in Permatang Pauh, your supporters even went to the extent of wearing your masks. Whatever you say, your supporters agree 100%. You have succeeded in creating a cult following.

The only thing they have yet to do is to ‘pray’ TO you.

Back to the question at hand, the fence sitters will justly say that they have been hoodwinked by you yet again. Why? It does not need a smart person to know that once you have the numbers, you have the right to seek an audience with the Agong for you to be sworn in as PM. Everybody does this. If you are clueless, you can ask YAB Lim Guan Eng, YAB TG Nik Aziz, YAB Khalid Ibrahim, YAB Ustz Azizan on this, how they formed a government.

Bro Anwar, you must have a reality check once in a while. If not, your head will swell and get bloated. The fact is, people are fed-up with your lies, claims and never ending claims.

Get real, and the reality is – Anwar Ibrahim is again caught with his pants down!

    Ha, ha, ha, ha ......

    ReplyDelete
  91. One more thing...

So Anwar, once you are sworn in as PM, you can use your executive power to release all ISA detainees, rescind all the traffic summonses or declare another holiday for that matter.

Your concocted reason that Abdullah Badawi may use the ISA on the frog MPs is baseless.

When you have the numbers, then you have the power.

Hate to say it (again). But Anwar, you are caught lying BIG TIME again.

    1) Why does DSAI(everyone uses that) put the date of 16/09/2008 and then put another date 23/09/2008?

    2) If he claims and continue to claim the amount of MP that will 'jump' to PR, why not reveal them on 16/09/2008?

    anyone can answer me this?
