Fairus To Pursue Studies, Says Zahrain
PENANG, March 21 (Bernama) -- Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chief Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said today he understood that Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin was relinquishing the post to further studies.
"I heard from colleagues that he (Mohammad Fairus) wants to further his studies, but I don't know if it is locally or abroad," he told reporters after the announcement on Mohammad Fairus' resignation by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng here today.
Lim announced that Mohammad Fairus had tendered his resignation as a deputy chief minister and state executive councillor effective April 8, but would remain with PKR as Penanti assemblyman.

Its taking so long for Penang CM to announce. First they quashed it as rumours, waited for Fairus to submit resignation himself when in actual fact i believe he was under Anwar pressure like his leave was extended by Penang CM upon request by Anwar. I don't think Saudara Fairus was very much Anwar's man or is it because of a scandal?

What I would say is that there is a tendency for those who taste power for the first time to succumb to the 'dark side'. And this applies to anyone of any political persuasion. Many of those newcomers in PR are tasting power for the first time and many even in their wildest dreams never imagined the position of power they would suddenly find themselves in. Thus there are quite a bunch of inexperienced politicians in PR State governments and it does not surprise me that some are tempted to make a fast buck.
ReplyDeleteHowever one thing this episode is teaching us is that the leadership of PR are taking action and a number have resigned without the need for MACC action. I hope it does not stop there and that they continue to clean house.
But seriously - can you compare this to Billion dollar defence deals; apartments in Mecca; direct negotiated million dollar contracts to politically linked companies and lets not forget the brutal murder of a young and pregnant Mongolian woman?
The good is the 2 party system is seemed to be working well. Both needs to do check their back for possible misuses and abuses.

You do see the difference between:
a. proven case of corruption that led to disqualification of a candidate in the UMNO elections, but was told that he could remain Chief Minister
b. not proven yet of any wrongdoings like corruption, but had been reprimanded to 'buck up' and when it did not work - resigned as Deputy CM.
So which one is the less responsible act?
If both PR and BN are not up to the mark, then what is the alternative? You have any suggestions for voters like us?

When i ask what is his research subject? He said that if American was so confidence that their economy was the greatest in the world and they have a black president to settled all the whites president left behind. Then he is thinking doing studies in `Lu bang gali; kecik-kecik lembu jaga bila besar jadi Maharaja. His phd is expected to take about approximately 3 years to finish.

The later has someone who is deemed to be under performing and corrupt, but they say that this person quit to further his study, presumably for his 3rd Master. The best thing is that the later claimed they are the champion of TRANSPARENCY!

I look at it as defence to the CAT policy in the long run rather than allowing it to be tarnished, but was a deal made like you resign and you won't be charged in that quarry thing ? But the guy who reportted the quarry issue said they are two councillors in MPSP?

But I find it funny if UMNO make a big deal about Fairus. It makes me laugh in UMNO logic that Ali Rustam is too crooked to stand for Deputy President but good enough to be Melaka CM. And let's not go on about Mat Tyson, Khairy and our angelic Khir Toyo.
I have no issue with Rocky; after all this is his blog. I just wish he would really get back to his journalistic roots and actually start writing some deep critical analysis of the shenangins in our politics. We are lacking good journalists.
